Ratzeburg
Work and live in a national park
|
The county town of Ratzeburg is the commercial centre of the northern part of the
Duchy of Lauenburg. 13,000 people live here in the midst of the national park "Lauenburg Lakes"
which extends to 444 sq. kms . The location of the island city is unique: the historical centre,
with its cathedral, is bounded by the water of the "Ratzeburg Lake" and only accessible by several
causeways.
The recognised clean air spa attracts tourists and day visitors like a magnet,
and yet also because of the diverse cultural offer. Again and again nature: broad mixed forests,
140 smaller and larger lakes and also the typical "hedgerow landscape" with fields and grassland
shaping the picture of its environs. It's hardly surprising that many holidaymakers envy the people
who live and work in Ratzeburg.
