What began over 35 years ago in an old munitions hall is a success story of a special kind. In the middle of the forest is the supply company which has developed continuously since 1993 under the single, forward-looking direction of Klaus Dau.

Now Sommerfeld + Thiele offers 1,500 products especially for the construction of wooden boats but also for the conversion of synthetic and metal yachts. In over 12,000 sqm at the company site wood from all over the world is stacked: burma-teak, khaya-mahagony, African sapeli, cherry wood, sycamore, sitka spruce as well as sandwich and marine ply boards. The modern machinery park - operated by 20 experienced experts - delivers this national and international badge "Quality by Sommerfeld+Thiele".

"Today we export to Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Latvia" says managing director Klaus Dau. "Our location in the Duchy of Lauenburg County is ideal for us: midway in Europe, advantageous for export, also by sea." The winner amongst the special products from Sommerfeld + Thiele: "Sotimarin-Teak-Stabdecks", tailored and preformed for the boat builder's yard and self assembly.
